There
is a place that I go to in my mind where the sun shines and I hear the
sound of water gently lapping on the rocks, where I walk in a garden
and watch amazed as hummingbirds dart from flower to flower, and eagles
fly overhead. Seals swim by and in the morning light if the tide is
high they can be heard playing off shore. It is a place where the world
is tranquil, where those I love sit together around a table resplendent
with fresh food from the garden and sea - as the sun sets in the west.
The Boathouse on Cortes is a sanctuary like no other. I have had the
pleasure of visiting three times in the last decade and look forward to
being there again. It is a refuge from chaos and the ‘outside’ world -
a place where time stands still, and where children and adults get to
be absorbed in the splendor of the out-of-doors. All of our children
love this place and dream of returning! Cortes Island is a magical
place and there is no place on the island more elegant and magical than
the home that you share. Thank you Martha!"
